You may not have to travel far for your auspicious occasion like marriage, the mandap will travel to your doorstep and station itself in front of your home.
Dayanand Darekar, a banquet hall owner in Latur, Maharashtra has come up with the idea of a hall on wheels during the pandemic as Covid shrank the number of marriage attendants as well as wedding budgets. The mobile mandap mounted on a truck is doing roaring business even in the post pandemic times with orders coming to Darekar across India.
Darekar, an industry veteran has now plans to expand the business pan India with at least 1000 such mobile trucks.
“The banquet hall can be best described as an innovation born out of people’s need. It is built on a 30 x 40 foot trailer. We have tried to provide the best possible facility which may not be even available in your nearby community hall. It is air-conditioned, it has a world-class sound system, generators, lights, and a spacious stage,” said Darekar talking to ISP.
It all started with the pandemic time. The situation adversely affected Darekar and all the people involved in the banquet and allied industry. Thousands of people went jobless. In Spite of the covid situation, people were still getting married but in their own private functions and Darekar had to find a way to fulfil this demand of small yet personal requirement of banquet halls near everyone’s home. Thus was born the idea of mobile marriage halls.
“Our mobile banquet hall comes with decorations and also a catering facility. It is all done in a very economic budget so that all sections of the society can avail,” Darekar added describing his movable foldable multipurpose hall which is affixed on a trailer and can be moved across the country as per demand.
Darekar became a media sensation recently when the Mahindra & Mahindra chairperson Anand Mahindra heaped praise on his innovation.
“I’d like to meet the person behind the conception and design of this product. So creative. And thoughtful. Not only provides a facility to remote areas but also is eco-friendly since it doesn’t take up permanent space in a population-dense country,” said Anand Mahindra.
